Jon Bon Jovi

Birth Date: March 2 1962
Birth Place: N/A

Lead vocal of New Jersey rock band Bon Jovi, Jon Bon Jovi received rave reviews for his work on the original song for the movie Young Guns II (1991). In addition to his accomplishment with the band, Jon also has a solo career and does a bit of acting. He made several appearances in the TV series Sex And The City and Ally McBeal as well as appearing in motion pictures. "Trying to seduce an audience is the basis of rock 'n' roll. And if I may say so, I'm pretty good at it. Plus, being married and monogamous, it's the closest thing I can do to having sex without getting in trouble for it." Jon Bon Jovi. Unlike many other superstars, Jon's private life does not contain a lot of controversy. Before his marriage, Jon was once involved with actress Diane Lane, but later tied the knot with his long-life companion Dorothea Hurley. Jon and his band have given many charity benefit concerts. For example they participated in Tiger Jam VI (2003) for the Tiger Woods Foundation, and together with Lenny Kravitz, Sheryl Crow, Macy Gray, and the Eagles members at Radio City Music Hall for the Democratic National Committee. Jon also lectured at the high-status Oxford University Union in Oxfordshire, England in June 2001. Family Champ Childhood and Family: A New Jersey native, Jon Francis Bongiovi Jr. would later be known as Jon Bon Jovi. Born on March 2, 1962 to hairdresser father John Bongiovi and mother Carol Bongiovi, Jon has two siblings, Anthony Michael (b. October 11th 1966) and Matthew (b. August 30th 1974). Jon was a student at New Jersey's Sayreville War Memorial High School and studied acting with Harold Guskin. Musician and actor Jon Bon Jovi married his high-school girlfriend, karate champ Dorothea Hurley on April 29, 1989, in Las Vegas, Nevada. They have four children: Jesse James (b. February 19, 1995), Stephanie Rose (b. May 13, 1993), Jacob (b. 2002) and Romeo. Blaze Of Jon's Glory Career: "I always think I'm the Tom Cruise of music - a lot of success and fans, but no critics, darling." Jon Bon Jovi. With the strong urge to be a rock star like his idols Bruce Springsteen and the Asbury Jukes, young Jon Bon Jovi took guitar lessons and joined neighboring rock bands. Along with keyboardist David Bryan, Jon set up the band Atlantic City Expressway. He also performed with such bands as The Rest, The Lechers and John Bongiovi and the Wild Ones. Jon started it all with working as the gatekeeper in his cousin's recording studio, Power Station, in New York City. From there Jon recorded demos with the backing of several bands like E Street Band. Fortunately one of the demos, Runaway, hit the local radio and Jon formed his own band. After being signed to Mercury/Polygram in July 1983, Jon launched his newfangled band Bon Jovi, which consisted of Jon, Richie Sambora, David Bryan, Tico Torres and Alec John Such. The new band released their debut album, titled with their name, in early 1984. With the videos Runaway and She Don't Know Me, the album stabbed the top 50 as well as charting on the nationwide top 40 hit. Soon they began to tour and were able to perform as the opening act for groups like the Scorpions, Whitesnake, Judas Priest and Kiss. Jon's cousin Tony claimed that it was he who manufactured Bon Jovi's sound and brought the case to court but the situation ended up being settled out of court. After their second album, 7800 Degrees Fahrenheit (1985), the band still had not achieved the megastar position they dreamt of. It was the third album, Slippery When Wet (1986) that brought the major breakthrough for the band. It spawned nonstop hit singles like You Give Love A Bad Name, Livin' On A Prayer and Wanted Dead or Alive. In the fall the album peaked the charts and then peaked again in early 1987 for seven successive weeks. It stayed for 94 weeks on the Billboard charts and sold over 12 million copies in the U.S. alone as well as placing them at the same level as Michael Jackson's album, Thriller. Slippery When Wet became the best-selling rock album of the year and shot Jon, along with the band, to rock-star mega-stardom. In September 1988, Bon Jovi released New Jersey, their fourth album. This album proved to be another triumph for Bon Jovi. It produced U.S. top ten singles like Bad Medicine, I'll Be There For You, Born to Be My Baby, Lay Your Hands on Me and Living in Sin. The album was an apex in their career, topping the Billboard album charts and booking tours around the globe. When the band decided to take a well deserved break, Jon wrote the Young Guns II soundtrack. With his first solo album launched in 1990, Jon polled in as the No. 1 solo hit with Blaze of Glory, followed by his second single Miracle which landed the spot of number 12. His solo album was a great prizewinning success. Jon was nominated for an Oscar and Grammy and netted the Golden Globe for Best Original Song. Bon Jovi released their fifth album, Keep The Faith (1992), which included the hit song Bed Of Roses. Though it topped at No. 1 in UK upon its release, the album did not do as well in the U.S. where it stayed at No. 5 and survived in the top 10 for only two weeks. Suffering the leaving of band member Alec John Such, their next album Cross Road (1994), with hit songs Always and These Days, was overall not highly received in the U.S. Destination Anywhere (1997) was Jon's official solo debut album. The CD includes the brief film Destination Anywhere featuring Jon, Demi Moore, Kevin Bacon and Whoopi Goldberg. Bon Jovi reunited in 2000 with their seventh album Crush which released the greatest hit of the era It's My Life. The album achieved a Grammy for Best Rock Album and Best Rock Performance by a Duo or Group. The band was once again at the very top in 2002. Bon Jovi launched their eighth album Bounce which stormed in at No. 2 on the Billboard charts. The album became the best chart debut in their 20-year record. Bon Jovi launched their greatest hits album, This Left Feels Right, on November 4, 2003. It includes both remakes and the original forms of their best hits. The band also introduced new tracks Last Man Standing and Thief of Hearts. Jon Bon Jovi debuted with his acting career on screen with The Return of Bruno (1988) and has appeared in many films including Moonlight and Valentino (alongside Gwyneth Paltrow and Kathleen Turner), The Leading Man (1996), Row Your Boat, No Looking Back and Homegrown (1998). During 2000, Jon was involved in such film projects as Pay It Forward and U-571 (costarring Matthew McConaughey and Harvey Keitel). In 2001, he worked in Mexican film Vampires: Los Muerstos, John Carpenter's Vampires (1998) movie sequel. In 2005, Jon will star in National Lampoon's The Trouble With Frank. Awards:
